Rep. Rose, Congressional Opponents, Clash on Trump Impeachment Vote

Rep. Max Rose joined fellow Democrats Wednesday evening in voting along party lines on two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.

Ahead of Wednesday’s vote, Rose had walked a tightrope on impeachment in a Congressional district that voted for Trump in 2016 and was under Republican control for three decades.

Last week, the other GOP congressional candidate, Joseph Caldarera, urged Rose to “drop his support of impeachment” and work on issues Staten Islanders and Brooklynites cared about.

After Rose’s vote on Wednesday Caldarera said: “The Democrats in Washington D.C. are sore losers. President Trump beat Hillary Clinton fair and square.”

“Max Rose promised to be an independent voice for our district but is joining hand in hand with Nancy Pelosi and AOC to try to overturn the results of the election.” Caldarera continued. “It’s a national disgrace. I speak with voters every day and no matter which party they are affiliated with, they tell me that the economy is stronger, our country is safer, and we are better off than we were three short years ago and the reason is because of President Donald J. Trump.”
