We are facing one of the worst drug crises in American history. Last year alone 70,000 Americans lost their lives to drug overdoses. You are now more likely to die from a drug overdose than from firearms or car accidents. This is a big problem where I live on Staten Island. I have lost several friends who I grew up with over the years, so this issue is personal to me. This is one of my top priorities to address and I will do everything in power to ensure we have the resources to take on this challenge head-on.
